Heat point guard Kyle Lowry is determined to play through a left hamstring injury in Sunday's Game 4 in Atlanta.
Lowry left Friday's loss liming late in the third quarter and was unable to return, but has undergone around-clock treatment and said he considers himself “hour-to-hour." He wasn't able to practice but Eric Spoelstra said the team won't make a decision until they see how to responds to treatment pre-game.
The Pro Basketball Docs don't see how the 37-year-old do-it-all guard plays in Game 4 after such a short turnaround.
Lowry described himself after in the injury last night as a “Wolverine" that can recover rapidly, but was unable to finish Friday's fourth quarter even as the Hawks came back late in the contest.
His hyperactive and aggressive playing style doesn't condone soft-tissue injuries like a hamstring strain, and having to follow the likes of Trae Young and Bogdan Bogdanovic will make his mobility and stop-and-start ability even more paramount.
Count on Lowry to miss the contest, despite his determination.
In his absence, Gabe Vincent will step in, as he has done for Lowry and Butler in the backcourt often this season. Vincent is averaging 11.7 points and 4.4 assists in 27 starts this season.
