The Kansas City Chiefs are in serious danger of being down their top two receiving options this Sunday against the Steelers.
Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill both tested positive for COVID-19 early this week. Kelce was placed on the COVID reserve list Monday and Hill was placed Tuesday.
Both players are vaccinated and eligible to test out of the league's COVID-19 protocols with two negative tests, 24-hours apart.
Under the NFL's recently changed return-to-play procedures, 10 of the 35 players placed on the COVID reserve list Monday Dec. 13 were able to test out for their games on Sunday.
Although it's a small sample size, Kelce's chances of testing out by Sunday appear to be 10 in 35, or 29%.
Hill, who was placed Tuesday, has a slightly lower chance of testing out by Sunday. Of the 29 players placed on the COVID reserve list last Tuesday, only 5 tested out by gametime Sunday.
That gives Hill a 17% chance to return by Sunday.
This week, 47 players were placed on the COVID reserve list Monday, including Kelce, Chiefs cornerback Charvarius Ward and Lions quarterback Jared Goff.
A total of 19 players were placed on the COVID list Tuesday, including six other Chiefs besides Hill.
Kansas City will get Josh Gordon, Chris Jones and Willie Gay back this week after the trio missed the Week 15 overtime win over the Chargers.
