William Gay Undergoes Meniscus Surgery, Will Miss Super Bowl

The Chiefs linebacker William Gay rolled his ankle Week 17, and was on the verge of return for the Chiefs, when it was revealed he had a knee arthroscopy. It was termed an emergency surgery by some, and later reports of a repair with four months recovery. If it was a trim, potentially the urgency of the surgery is to leave open the possibility of a return for the Super Bowl 10 days away. After all, Philip Rivers played in the AFC Championship game in 2008, six days after a meniscus knee surgery. However, with the report of a true repair with sutures, that chance seems slim and he will likely miss the Super Bowl.
