The New York Giants defense suffered two losses today. Rookie safety Xavier McKinney, a second round draft choice, has suffered a Jones fracture to his left foot and will require surgery. Joining him in needing surgery is linebacker David Mayo who suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee. Given the type of fracture and the position he plays, we expect McKinney to be placed on injured reserve but is a candidate to return for the second half of the season. The Giants may also place Mayo on injured reserve and bring him back as he could make a return sometime as early as next month.
