Ertz returned to play after his rib fracture against Dallas. He was likely given a rib block for pain control which is usually very effective. However in this case, Ertz was still less than himself, which begs the question of additional injury issues. There is no question that he wants to play and the Eagles need him. However, he has missed his second straight practice now. The Eagles are short at wide receiver, and having Dallas Goeddert and Ertz will add pass catchers in their often used 12 personnel, a big plus as they trying to clinch the NFC East. Given the location of the fracture, and by video, there is no risk for pneumothorax (collapsed lung). There could be risk for damage to his spleen or left kidney. Internal organ damage is the worry that might keep Ertz from playing.
