Bulls all-star guard Zach Lavine left tonight's loss to the Warriors only 3 minutes in after suffering a left knee injury.
Based on initial video, our team of ProBaketballDocs are confident that he did not suffer a serious injury, although there is some concern for a meniscus tear based on the way his knee twisted.
Overall, the hope is that the absence tonight and testing to come is all precautionary based on Lavine's previous injury history.
The 26-year-old guard previously tore the ACL in his left knee in February 2017, an injury that held him out until January of 2018. He also missed the final 14 games of the 2017-18 season with left knee tendinitis likely related to the ACL recovery.
Lavine will undergo an MRI on the knee tomorrow, but the team is optimistic that it is not serious and their safety is precautionary, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
He suffered the injury when he twisted his knee awkwardly while turning on the baseline after a rebound while he attempted to reset the offense.
Lavine has been a big reason for the Bulls success this season, scoring 25.6 points per game with 4.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists on 49.1/41.9/87.2 shooting splits, helping Chicago to a 27-13 record.
