Zeke Elliott May Miss Time to Heal Knee Ailment

The Cowboys are considering sitting star running back to allow him to recover from an ongoing knee issue, according to a report from ESPN's Ed Werder. Even if the 6th-year back continues to play, the Cowboys are planning on increasing Tony Pollard's usage as Elliott continues to struggle with a bone bruise, according to NFL's Ian Rapoport. After rushing for 521 yards on 102 first in the first 6 games, the 3-time pro-bowler has rushed for only 199 yards on 58 carries in the last 5 games since the Week 7 bye, and he has been out-gained by Tony Pollard the last 3 games. Head coach Mike McCarthy said on Friday that he was "concerned" about Elliott's injury, and it's something they "need to evaluate." They will have to evaluate quickly, as the Cowboys are 1-3 in their last 4 games. Dallas will have a chance for a get-right game as it faces ailing New Orleans next Thursday.
